Nicole, have you tried experimenting with the background colour for your double-page spread? I can see that it links to your front cover but maybe if you keep the same palette but try lightening it, it might help. You could also try to add colour to the text - try the questions in a different colour to make them stand out. It might help to try a different font that links in more to the style of your magazine. Experiment with a few and post your results so we can see how this went.
